Liposuction

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure that involves removing excess fat from specific areas of the body. The ideal candidate for liposuction is a patient who is at or near their ideal body weight with a stubborn area of fat that is resistant to diet and exercise.

During the procedure, small incisions are made in the skin and a thin tube is inserted to suction out the excess fat. VASER Liposuction is a modified procedure in which ultrasound is used to help break up the fat before it is removed.  The use of ultrasound energy during the procedure can help to stimulate collagen production, which in turn can lead to tighter, smoother skin in the treated area. This makes it a popular option for patients who are looking to address both excess fat and loose or sagging skin.

Liposuction is not a weight-loss solution, but rather a way to contour the body and remove localized fat deposits.  The length of the surgery can vary depending on the amount of fat being removed and the specific areas being targeted. Recovery time can also vary, but most people are able to return to work within a few days to a week. Return to exercise may take a little longer and it is important to follow the surgeon’s post-operative instructions to ensure a safe and effective recovery. As with any surgery, there are risks involved, so it is important to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine if liposuction with energy is right for you.
