Gynecomastia Surgery

Gynecomastia surgery, also known as male breast reduction, is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to address enlarged male breasts. The condition, which can be caused by a variety of factors including hormonal imbalances, genetics, and certain medications, can be a source of embarrassment and self-consciousness for many men.  Before undergoing treatment for gynecomastia, a medical workup is typically required to identify any underlying causes that may be treatable without surgery.

Gynecomastia surgery involves the removal of excess glandular tissue and fat from the breast area, resulting in a flatter, more masculine chest contour.  Gynecomastia can often be treated with liposuction, which involves using a small cannula to remove excess fat and tissue from the chest area. This can result in a flatter, more masculine chest contour.

In some cases, a small incision may be required to remove excess glandular tissue. However, most cases of gynecomastia can be successfully treated with liposuction alone. The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately two hours to complete, depending on the extent of the correction needed.

It’s important for patients considering treatment for gynecomastia to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can help him determine the best course of action for his specific needs. The surgeon can discuss the risks, benefits, and potential outcomes of energy-based liposuction, and work with the patient to develop a personalized treatment plan to achieve their desired results.
